Cloth Diaper Accessories: The Must-Have List

There are many cloth diaper accessories on the market. Some are more helpful than others while some are, in my opinion, a must-have. You can cloth diaper on the cheap without many of these amazing products but I personally love these 6 must have cloth diaper accessories because they make my life just a tad bit easier.

  • Diaper Sprayers
  • Spray Pal.
  • Smart Bottoms Wet Bags.
  • Fleece Liners.
  • Fresh Wave packs
  • Snappis

Diaper Sprayer

Cloth diapers are fun and all…. until the baby has peanut butter poop. Poop that just won’t plop off and is no longer exclusivly breastmilk poop needs a little something extra. For this- I love my diaper sprayer. There are many diaper sprayers on the market to choose from but we decided to go the DIY route and made a sprayer from the materials found at our local hardware store. It was pretty easy and it cost us about the half the price. (I would, however, purchase one next time.)

Spray Pal

I have done quite a few Spray Pal reviews in the past three years- because really, I have no idea if I’d still be cloth diapering without it. Spraying off the poop is a cloth diaper reality. Afterall, the first question people usually ask is, “What do you do with the poop?” For some people, this means dunk & swish. For others, this means having a designated poop scraper. For many, it’s the sprayer attached to the toilet. The sprayer can be a little messy so the Spray Pal saves my bathroom time after time.

Smart Bottoms Wet Bags

Smart Bottoms wet bags are truly my favorite of all the wet bags I’ve owned. They’re heavy duty and trap in the stinkiest of stinky diapers while we’re out and about. They’re the perfect size to use for a few hours out of the house or all day. I even use them for swim suits in the summer time!

Fleece Liners

Where have these been all my life?! I loathe stained diapers. It’s weird- I know. But I just am not a fan. But I’m also kind of lazy and don’t want to put in all the work of sunning my diapers either. Fleece liners are basically my best friends. I put these in all my natural fiber diapers (since those stain easier) and the poop is *mostly* contained on them. No poop on the diapers themselves means no stains on them! Score! Plus- They make it super easy to spray off of diapers that have flaps that don’t stay in place. Double score!!! 😉

Fresh Wave

Diapers stink. It doesn’t matter if you use disposable diapers or cloth diapers. They just stink. Fresh Wave odor eliminators remove the stink naturally. Instead of just covering the odor up, they get rid of it! It makes the room smell fresh. I use them in the bathroom and in the baby’s room. I also use the little packs between the cloth diaper pail and the liner and in the trash can between the can and the bag.

I don’t use prefolds and covers very often- but when I do, I love my Snappis! They’re so much more convenient than trying to use diaper pins. But let me warn you- these suckers do hurt if you step on them…. Worse than a Lego. Prefolds with a Snappi and cover was my favorite option when Jackson was a newborn- as you can see tiny newborn chicken legs above. 😉

Jackson’s First Birthday + A GIVEAWAY!

It happened- our little boy turned one year old. How did a year pass by so quickly? Honestly, he’s still a tiny baby in my eyes and not a toddler. I mean, he’s a peanut so maybe that helps a bit. He did, however, make it known that he’s officially a toddler. We have quickly learned that his new favorite hobby is unrolling the toilet paper… How toddler-like, right???

We celebrated his first birthday with our close friends and some family members, nothing too big. His party was Pumpkin themed, which I felt was fitting for an end of October birthday. I also found the perfect birthday shirt on Pinterest and we kind of based the party theme around it. You see…. Jackson’s bedroom is filled with tractors. And not just any tractor. It’s filled with John Deere green tractors. I found him a shirt that not only had pumpkins on it…. but there was a GREEN tractor pulling the pumpkins! Perfect, right? So of course, we had to incorporate the tractors into his party décor.

His smash cake and the cupcakes were pumpkin spice- because what other kind of cake would you have at a pumpkin themed birthday? I found some pumpkin cutouts and taped his 1-11 month pictures on them. He had some orange balloons, tractor balloons, a giant green 1 balloon…. Basically balloons everywhere. The decorations were simple, but so adorable.

He was so busy- I could barely get a “decent” picture. He was on the move! I’m not really sure how he had the energy to move, mister no nap. But you better believe he CRASHED after the party. Between eating his cake and no nap beforehand, he was a sleepy little guy.

Breastfeeding Must-Haves for Baby Jackson

I’m not going to lie- I’m kind of nervous to breastfeed again. With the girls, I had some obstacles along the way that made me give up after a couple of weeks. But this time- I’m determined to get this thing right. My goal is to breastfeed him for at least a year. I’m planning on exclusively giving him breast milk, but with pumping and going back and forth between breast and bottle. Here are some of my breastfeeding must-haves that you better believe I’ll have on hand well before he makes his arrival!

Earth Mama Angel Baby Products

This one is a no-brainer. Earth Mama Angel Baby’s products are all natural and organic. They’re also vegan and cruelty-free. You can feel good about using their products and knowing that you aren’t putting toxins onto or into your body.

  • Milkmaid Tea: Sometimes mamas need a little boost in their supply. I have heard amazing things about their Milkmaid Tea and in my opinion, it wouldn’t hurt having this around to drink if I feel my supply is running low or if I think he needs a little more.
  • Booby Tubes: These are an all-natural, gel-free breast pads that are used to help some of the discomfort that can accompany breastfeeding. They can be easily heated in the microwave or oven and help encourage milk flow, prevent clogged ducts, and promote let down.
  • Natural Nipple Butter: Ahhhhh. Nipple Butter SAVED my poor boobies with the girls. I didn’t use EMAB because I had no clue it existed but this time, I’ve already started a stock pile. Their Natural Nipple Butter is lanolin free, GMO free, and certified organic. It’s smooth instead of sticky and seriously wonderful. We actually use it as lip moisturizer around here right now! 😉

Medela Pump

A breast pump is a very important must have for me! I am the kind of mama that needs a break every once and awhile (don’t we all?!) so it’s important to me that I can feel confident in my husband feeding him. I want to have the option of giving him milk in a bottle, whether it’s because I need to run errands and leave him home, need an extra few hours of sleep at night and let husband have evening duty, or just letting the girls experience feeding their baby brother. I don’t see the need for an electric pump since I won’t be pumping multiple times a day, so I’ll be using a Medela manual pump.

Boppy Pillow

I already have two- one for upstairs and one for downstairs. I loved the Boppy pillow with the girls- it just made breastfeeding SO much easier in bed or on the couch. I was able to support the baby better and not have to hunch over. It was especially useful in the middle of the night. I never really figured out the whole “sleeping while breastfeeding” thing so I would sit up and use the Boppy for all night feedings. I’d just throw some pillows behind me, a pillow on my lap plus the Boppy- and we’re all set!

Bamboobies Nursing Pads

Bamboobies are known for their re-usable breast pads. While I think I’ll have a few on hand- I prefer disposables since I’ll have plenty of laundry to do in the beginning with cloth diapers, new baby clothes that get spit up on, and the usual family’s laundry. I remember leaking pretty badly with both girls so having pads are a must! The Bamboobies disposable nursing pads are made with bamboo- making them more eco-friendly and softer than your conventional disposable nursing pads.  They also are made with a unique backing making them more breathable for sensitive skin. And who doesn’t have sensitive skin in that area the first few weeks? I believe these mixed with the EMAB Natural Nipple Butter will be a lifesaver!

Kiinde Twist System

This is something completely new to me. I’m super intrigued by this system and REALLY want to try it out. Basically, there’s an adapter to fit most major pump brands. You pump into their storage bags and then can store them in the freezer. Thaw them out, put the bags into their feeding bottles, attach the nipple and BAM. You feed your baby. There’s no dumping the milk into a bottle or another container so little room for spillage and wasting that precious liquid gold. Another plus- all you need to wash is the nipple. Uhmmmm, less dishes?! Heck yes. This is every mother’s dream. The bottle nipple is actually also designed to encourage natural latching so baby won’t deal with nipple confusion and won’t become lazy on the breast. This seems like the perfect system and I’m so excited to try it out!

There you have it! My list of must-haves! Hopefully these products will help our breastfeeding journey and will be lifesavers like I think they will be! Tell me in the comments below- what are your must haves? 🙂

Please note- I was in no way compensated for this post by these brands.
