Getting Pregnant with Growing Generations

Sponsored Post

If you’re looking to grow your family but you’re having some medical difficulties, look no farther than Growing Generations. Infertility and the waiting/trying to get pregnant can be such a difficult time for you and your partner. Emotions are strong, patience is thin and all you want is a baby. Using an egg donation to have a baby is sometimes a simpler choice for your body when looking at options like using in-vitro fertilization. Growing Generations makes the process easy for your family and allows you to be picky on the characteristics your donor has. For instance, you can choose the blood type, hair color, eye color, and ethnicity. You’ll also get to see their health history along with their family medical history- because that’s important! Once the egg is retrieved, fertilized, and placed into your uterus, you can continue the pregnancy as normal. Getting pregnant doesn’t need to be difficult for your family with the help of Growing Generations. Take a look at the infographic below and don’t hesitate to contact Growing Generations with any questions! <3

The Parenting Struggle

There are days that parenting is just not fun. There’s not enough coffee to get you through the day. There’s too many hours until bedtime. There are too many kids running around your house and creating chaos. This is the parenting struggle. This is life. This is the unspoken reality for many of us. Maybe we just wake up on the wrong side of the bed. Maybe we had a horrible night’s sleep. (Which is usually the case if you have kids, let’s be honest here.) Maybe we’re in a slump from the day-to-day lifestyle of forgetting who we are as ourselves and not being just “Mom” or “Dad.”

I will be the first to admit that sometimes I forget who I am as Amanda. I know (or at least, for the most part) who I am as Mom. I know what I want my kids to see and remember me as when they look back years from now at their childhood. I know how I want to look to other parents during playdates or online mom groups. But really, I don’t know who I want to be as just me. Not the mom to three kids, or the stay-at-home wife.

How do I fix this? The answer is simple, although the action of doing so may not be. Self-care. I know who I am as a mom because that’s what my mind is fixated on 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. I know who I am as a wife, because again, I’m acting as a wife all day, every day. Taking some time for yourself can be difficult- especially with little ones. I’ve learned that I need 15 minutes every day to make a plan for myself. This plan can be professionally, religiously, or just a plan of attack for the day. I’ve also found that trying to shower every day can totally lift my mood, make me feel better about myself, and give me some additional time away from the chaos that I call my home.

Take some time for yourself. Find 15-20 minutes where you can just be you. Take a shower during naptime, after bedtime, or while your partner is home to keep the kids out of the bathroom. Watch a show on Netflix before you go to bed. Get up a few minutes early to drink a cup of coffee or tea while it’s still hot. Lock yourself in the bathroom to pee by yourself, although be prepared for whatever mess may come with it when you get out. 😉

Remember who you are and just…. Be you.

Getting Ready for MommyCon & Using Their New App!

Less than a week away until I’ll be at MommyCon Chicago and I’m so excited! I’m officially in “getting ready” mode and have started thinking about what I’m packing for the trip…. And what I want to buy at the event! 😉
I can’t tell you how often I find myself on the MommyCon app, scrolling through the schedule and looking at the vender list. I’m trying to get a good “game plan” together for the big day so I don’t miss the things I really want to miss! Wait- you didn’t know there was an app?! Yes! It’s new to the MommyCon scene this year! Here are some screenshots so you can see it for yourself:

The front page shows you the list of cities they’re attending in 2016. Pick which city you’ll be visiting- in my case, Chicago.

Here are all the things app has to offer- see the schedule, the exhibitor list, the speakers, etc.

Take a look at the speakers!

Catch a peak at the vendors and exhibitors to plan your day.

Take a look at the schedule for the day. You can click on the topic and read about it to decide if that is a session you would like to attend.

You can even share your experience on the app! Take a picture and share it on Facebook, Instagram, or text a friend!

Take note that the app will not be up to date for all cities right now. Each city will have complete information the week of the event! 🙂 I’m so excited to continue using the app this week in preparation for the Chicago event and I’m sure it will be an invaluable tool come Saturday! You can find the app easily by searching “MommyCon” in your App Store. It’s made for both android and iOS.
***Don’t forget to get your tickets for MommyCon 2016, WEAR, or MiLK! Use the code FLUFFBUM16 for $6 off your general admission ticket to any MommyCon event in 2016. Offer not valid on VIP upgrades.***

My Love/Hate Relationship….

I have a love/hate relationship with my…. diaper sprayer. Yep. I said it. I admit it. Sometimes I hate it. Sometimes I LOVE it.

When we started cloth diapering, a diaper sprayer was something I put my husband in charge of. We found links online on how to just pick up parts at the hardware store and do it ourselves. It was cheaper. We could just drive to the store and get it instead of waiting on delivery. And we could choose what color we wanted the actual sprayer to be. Awesome right?? Well sure. Except it took my husband days to it. He is a custom fabricator at work so he can put anything together but that wasn’t the issue. Things on the actual toilet needed replaced and we didn;t know until he started adding things to it. So 3 days and 3 trips to Lowes later…. we had a diaper sprayer! Woohoo! Whenever Bai had a bad poop and I couldn’t get it off the diaper, we would go outside and spray it off with the hose into our grass. YUCK! I was sooo excited to finally have something inside, easy to use, and quick…. or so I thought. I love my diaper sprayer because I have one and it does come in handy. But sometimes…. it just doesn’t work up to my expectations. I get a really sticky, mushy poopy diaper and it takes 15 minutes to spray off. There have been a number of times that I’ve just thought to myself, “I’ll just throw this prefold away. I have a million anyways… I won’t miss this ONE.” But then of course, I remind myself that I cloth diaper to save money, not throw it away. So then I proceed to deal with the yucky poop with the 3 year old begging to help me and the 1 year old tugging at my pants crying for milk. With cloth, you just get a little more up close and personal with poop but that’s also just a wonderful trait of motherhood. 🙂
