AWE Süsse PD All-In-One Diaper Review

The AWE Süsse PD All-In-One Diaper was designed and created by three moms that decided to open an eco-friendly family store! Their store, AWE Süsse was named with their youngest children’s names in mind, along with their German heritage. They carry many of the brands we all know and love- but they also have created their own diaper!

About the Diaper

This diaper was designed with their babies in mind. It is easy to use for babysitters and daycare providers- but also absorbent enough for bedtime! The diaper has a PUL outer layer around French terry, to keep clothes dry. On the inside, you’ll find a layer of athletic jersey lining to pull the wetness away from baby’s sensitive skin. The absorbant stiched in insert is made up of French terry, organic cotton, bamboo and hemp. The insert is wrapped in organic cotton so only the softest material touches baby. With four rows of snaps, there’s many size settings to make sure your baby gets the best fit possible.

On to one of my favorite features: the rainbow snaps. We’ve seen rainbow snaps on Lalabye Baby diapers, and it’s one of their big selling points. The AWE Süsse PD All-In-One Diaper also has rainbow snaps to make diaper changes easy for other caretakers. Its super easy to grab a index card and color the outline of the diaper and then circle which color snap setting baby is currently fitting into. This makes it a million times easier to leave baby with someone that is unfamiliar with cloth diapering!

Want to use it on a newborn? This diaper also features an umbilical cord snap down! Because of the way the snaps are designed, you also have the option of a fifth rise to make it even tinier for the itty bittiest of babies! This diaper will start to fit around 8 lbs and fit until 35 lbs.

My Experience

I refuse to post about a diaper that did not work for us- because how can I tell you to use it if I wouldn’t? Well- this is not the case here! I love this diaper! It fits SUPER trim but it so absorbent. It even passed our bedtime test! 😉 Jackson seemed comfortable and his super sensitive skin wasn’t red, even after spending the night in it- which is a constant issue we have with using cloth for nighttime. The available designs are super adorable! I absolutely love the galaxy print: AWE Süsse Dreams. Isn’t it amazing?!

Overall- my experience with the diaper was fantastic. I love the elastics, the rainbow snaps, the materials used, and of course…. the absorbancy! This diaper is a winner in my book. I just wish I had a teeny tiny squish to try it on and see how it would fit on a newborn!

So now- a giveaway! You’ve seen what I like about the diaper so tell me in the comments- What’s your favorite feature of the AWE Süsse PD AIO diaper?

a Rafflecopter giveaway

Please note: I did receive the diapers for the review. All opinions expressed are 100% honest and my own.

MommyCon Chicago- An Attendee’s Point of View

Earlier this month, I had the privilege to attend MommyCon Chicago! I traveled 6ish hours from Columbus- and it was SO worth it! This mama needed a vacation and I figured what better place than MommyCon?! I took Jackson with me and attended with my sister-in-law and nephew. While I wasn’t totally “child-free,” it was still a little freeing to get out of the house and have two children less for a few days! 😉 MommyCon Chicago was combined with WEAR this year- so we were looking forward to three days of the event!!!

We left Ohio Friday morning and made it with very little bumps in the road. We only stopped twice; once for lunch and once for gas. Can you believe we only stopped twice with TWO rambunctious toddlers? Yeah- I can’t either. But it worked out!!! We made it an hour before check-in, but Hilton was amazing and let us check-in early since our room was ready. After we got into the hotel room, we got ready and headed to MommyCon! Luckily, I really only wanted to attend one of the sessions on Friday and it was the last session of the day. After the session- I stopped at the MommyCon Shoppe and grabbed a new Milk & Milk & Milk shirt for Jackson!

Friday evening was the Wear Party presented by Abby’s Lane. Christy from Smartbottoms, Ula from Tula Baby, Julie from Cloth Diaper Geek and Stephanie from Abby’s Lane were on stage and spoke to the party-goers. It was hard to hear the amazing women on the stage, which was disappointing. But we all had a drink ticket, entered to win some prizes, and had some delicious food! (They served brownies, cookies, and a veggie tray with hummus!) Jackson enjoyed dancing to Miss Jamie’s music!

Saturday was the main event day! The exhibitor hall was full of amazing exhibitors and I picked up some amazing goodies! 😉 As a blogger for Cotton Babies, Jen Labit invited me up on stage during the mob party! I (unexpectedly) spoke to the attendee’s about why we started cloth diapering and why I started this blog. It was super exciting. I feel like I looked silly- my last “public speaking” was 8+ years ago in high school!

Also on Saturday, I took pictures with everyone I could! I love meeting new people and seeing my internet friends! Saturday felt really hectic so it was nice to be in the hotel connected to the convention center. I could go back to the room as I pleased to just decompress, grab a snack, etc.

Saturday night was a night to remember! I snatched tickets for the Tula Party! They did not disappoint- when using the #freetogrow on instagram, there was a printer printing out your photos! There was also an awesome green screen for pictures and they printed out those pictures right there as a souvenir! We were the first to see the upcoming release of the new Free to Grow Tula carriers and we were able to not only see them- but we could try them on as well! And did I mention…. open bar? Yeah. It was a phenomenal party! Perfect for a mom-cation! 😉

Sunday was our last day. The initial plan was that we would stay until giveaways that day- but it just didn’t work out. We were tired. And we didn’t pace ourselves well on Saturday. I attended a social media session with Xza and Mat York first thing in the morning and did a little bit more shopping. By that point, the toddlers were done. And the mamas were tired! Plus, add in the fact that we had a 6+ hour drive ahead of us…. it was just time to go. 🙁

MommyCon Chicago did not disappoint. Per the usual, we left with amazing freebies from sponsors and bags full of items that we purchased. I got to meet some of my new friends, take pictures with people I love talking with everyday, and got a weekend away. It was perfect. <3

Cloth Diaper Accessories: The Must-Have List

There are many cloth diaper accessories on the market. Some are more helpful than others while some are, in my opinion, a must-have. You can cloth diaper on the cheap without many of these amazing products but I personally love these 6 must have cloth diaper accessories because they make my life just a tad bit easier.

  • Diaper Sprayers
  • Spray Pal.
  • Smart Bottoms Wet Bags.
  • Fleece Liners.
  • Fresh Wave packs
  • Snappis

Diaper Sprayer

Cloth diapers are fun and all…. until the baby has peanut butter poop. Poop that just won’t plop off and is no longer exclusivly breastmilk poop needs a little something extra. For this- I love my diaper sprayer. There are many diaper sprayers on the market to choose from but we decided to go the DIY route and made a sprayer from the materials found at our local hardware store. It was pretty easy and it cost us about the half the price. (I would, however, purchase one next time.)

Spray Pal

I have done quite a few Spray Pal reviews in the past three years- because really, I have no idea if I’d still be cloth diapering without it. Spraying off the poop is a cloth diaper reality. Afterall, the first question people usually ask is, “What do you do with the poop?” For some people, this means dunk & swish. For others, this means having a designated poop scraper. For many, it’s the sprayer attached to the toilet. The sprayer can be a little messy so the Spray Pal saves my bathroom time after time.

Smart Bottoms Wet Bags

Smart Bottoms wet bags are truly my favorite of all the wet bags I’ve owned. They’re heavy duty and trap in the stinkiest of stinky diapers while we’re out and about. They’re the perfect size to use for a few hours out of the house or all day. I even use them for swim suits in the summer time!

Fleece Liners

Where have these been all my life?! I loathe stained diapers. It’s weird- I know. But I just am not a fan. But I’m also kind of lazy and don’t want to put in all the work of sunning my diapers either. Fleece liners are basically my best friends. I put these in all my natural fiber diapers (since those stain easier) and the poop is *mostly* contained on them. No poop on the diapers themselves means no stains on them! Score! Plus- They make it super easy to spray off of diapers that have flaps that don’t stay in place. Double score!!! 😉

Fresh Wave

Diapers stink. It doesn’t matter if you use disposable diapers or cloth diapers. They just stink. Fresh Wave odor eliminators remove the stink naturally. Instead of just covering the odor up, they get rid of it! It makes the room smell fresh. I use them in the bathroom and in the baby’s room. I also use the little packs between the cloth diaper pail and the liner and in the trash can between the can and the bag.

Snappi

I don’t use prefolds and covers very often- but when I do, I love my Snappis! They’re so much more convenient than trying to use diaper pins. But let me warn you- these suckers do hurt if you step on them…. Worse than a Lego. Prefolds with a Snappi and cover was my favorite option when Jackson was a newborn- as you can see tiny newborn chicken legs above. 😉

MommyCon VIP Sessions- A Community Post

I have not personally attended any of the MommyCon VIP sessions- although I have heard many great things about them! VIP Sessions take place the day before the event, so on a Friday, and they are small seminars with some amazing people. Because I can’t personally tell you about my experience and why they’re so great- I asked some of my blogger friends to help with this post! 🙂

Want to purchase a VIP upgrade? VIP sessions are typically announced 30 days before your city’s event.

** Still need to buy your MommyCon ticket? Remember to use the code FLUFFBUM17 for a $5 discount! Please not that this code is not valid on VIP ticket upgrades. **

Cotton Babies VIP Session

I attended the Jen’s VIP session at MommyCon OC 2015. It was a small circle of about 15-20 women with babies having freeplay in the middle of the circle. We had light snacks and drinks and it felt very inviting. Jen had everyone introduce themselves and share what we wanted to get out of the session. We were able to ask questions and it never felt rushed it was very natural like a group of friends. Xza was in and out of the session visiting too. We each got a tote from catbird baby, and inside was a bum genius diaper, wet bag, wipe spray, maxaloon style pants, and several samples of other cloth diaper safe products. The products we received were well over he $40 session price, the inspirational message from Jen was worth more as well. I’m still friends with some of the moms I met there 2 years later.

– Hannah

Mommy-con Atlanta 2016 was my second mommy-con experience and my first time going all the way and doing a VIP session as well as breakfast with Jen before my VIP session. My sister in law and best friend took the plunge with me as my twins and her son are 10 days apart and we share many parenting values. She had also been by my side during our first mommy-con in 2015!
Bright and early on Friday morning I picked her and my nephew up and we drove to the hotel that the breakfast was scheduled at. When we arrived Jen and Jimmy were already seated and there was coffee ( a twin moms lifeline 😂) ready to drink! We were joined by a few other moms including both Dona from black women do cloth diaper and Deja from sunshine fabric and designs. We had an excellent conversation about race and equality in the diaper industry over an amazing breakfast. We talked until it was time to head over to the convention center for the first VIP session of the day With Jen!
When we got to the convention center I had a good idea of the layout as I had been there before so we knew where to park and walked right in. The mommycon shoppe and the tekhni booth were both open allowing us first pick at all the merchandise as well as the tekhni exclusive which was amazing! We got there about 30 minutes before our VIP session was set to begin so we mingled with eachother as our kids played with the amazing variety of toys set out for them. I will admit I was attempting to wrap one twin when the other ran through my legs and toward the door but was thankfully quickly caught by another mom and returned to me.
I’m not going to lie I attended Jen’s session purely because I wanted to see her not because I have any interest in running my own business. The session was however amazingly interesting and informative! My twins were pretty interested in the toys which was nice so I even got to listen to her talk without one of them yelling in my ear. We also got some amazing swag in our bag (which was it’s self super cute) including a cloth diaper and wet bag, doodle pants, mother love diaper and thrush cream, a tekhni head wrap, and other fun goodies from mom owned businesses! I’m so glad I chose to do a mommy con VIP session it added so much to my weekend!!!!

– Colleen Walker Sondergaard

The first VIP session I attended was hosted by Jennifer Labit the creator of Cotton Babies who shared insight into her life journey. She spoke openly about how she transitioned from a mother struggling to balance the home budget, highlighting how her struggle was the catalist into becoming an entrepreneur and founder of a successful business. Her honesty was refreshing and encouraging. We all struggle and fall; hearing how the most difficult times of her life.

– Patricia @ Dr Mommy Rx

Pool Party

At the Baby Safe Pool Party with Mat York from that That Dad Mat we were treated to a full table of Babyganics goodies and a bag absolutely stuffed with poolside treats including a Beachfront Baby ring sling. Mat helped everyone get comfortable with the slings. Unfortunately we were inside because of Hurricane Hermine. It was a good thing the session was hosted by Mat because it was the most fun pool-less pool party ever!

– Alexandria Lawrence @ Naturally Made with Love

Feed the Baby

The Feed the Baby VIP with The Leaky Boob’s Jessica Martin-Weber was something I’ll never forget. We had a rap session about how not every experience is a “rainbow farting unicorn one”. The swag bag for this session had some seriously cool gadgets. Gootensils, and EZPZ mat, Bitsizers, a donut rattle from Pebblechild, a gift voucher for Undercover Mama, a Re-play set, a reusable squeeze pouch… and more! A lot of these have become regular daily use items for us, that I can’t imagine our life without.

– Alexandria Lawrence @ Naturally Made with Love

Babywearing

Laura Brown from Ergo and Angelique Geehan of Beco gave us some helpful insights at Babywearing VIP. I got an Ergobaby organic SSC (which is still my favorite carrier to date!) in my swag bag. After a run down on the carriers with how to-s and safety features we played two rounds of a game like heads up. All of the cards had terms used during the session. What an exciting way to use the knowledge we gained from our fun instructors!

– Alexandria Lawrence @ Naturally Made with Love

The second VIP session I attended Friday afternoon was called Babywearing. This session is very popular because each attendee is randomly given either an Ergo or Beco baby carrier. Hosted by two industry professionals, including Laura Brown of Ergo, this session focused on proper ways to wear Ergo and Beco soft structured carriers. Additionally, they were more then happy to take the time to help parents trouble shoot any struggles they are having with their own person baby carriers (of all forms).

TBT- Two Kids in Diapers

Having two kids in diapers is a real life scenario for many parents. Some parents want to get the diapering days over with and for some, it just happens naturally! 😉 Our girls are 18 months apart so I had two in diapers for almost 18 months since Aubrey potty trained completely around 3 years old. For me, it wasn’t a total nightmare. It wasn’t really that bad at all! But I really wish that I had found cloth diapering before tackling the two in cloth scenario. We were in disposables almost the whole time! Can you just think about all that money that we just threw away?! Yeah, don’t remind me!

I think most of you know that I have not always been a cloth diapering mama. Aubrey was 100% a disposable diapered baby. We didn’t switch to cloth until after Baileigh turned one. We figured better late than never! (so it really is NEVER too late!)  I had attempted to switch Aubrey over when she was 2 for bedtime use, but it just did not happen. She was too excited to have on a pretty diaper! We had pink ones and purple ones, floral ones and ones with hearts on them… This led to her wanting a new diaper every 5 minutes. This just ended up me getting aggravated and throwing in the towel! So Aubrey really hasn’t had on cloth diapers. We cloth diapered Baileigh and disposable diapered Aubrey. Weird right??

For me, the worst part of diapering two kids was buying the diapers. I hated buying twice the amount of disposables and twice the amount of wipes. I felt like we were buying diapers every week. And of course, the kids just couldn’t run out of diapers at the same time. That would be too easy! I feel like cloth diapering would have SAVED my sanity as far as the buying part. Don’t get me wrong! I loved my frequent trips to Target. But now I enjoy going to Target for things other than diapers. And buying cloth is way more fun! Because what’s more therapeutic than some online diaper shopping and stalking the mailman?

Overall, two children isn’t too scary when it comes down to it. And especially with cloth since you’re already doing laundry and already working on your personal shopping addiction! 😉 If we had other children close in age again, I think I’d be more excited to have a reason to buy more diapers! More diapers means more fun! Right??

So tell me, are you diapering more than one child? How is that working out for you?

Lanibaby Cloth Diapers

15153011_10154715701214282_1102723915_o

Lanibaby cloth diapers are still new to the cloth diaper scene. But let me tell you…. they’re gonna go far.

A little background info. Andrea was a cloth diapering mama that had a slim baby and couldn’t find many options for her son. He was also a heavy wetter- so much so, that she was eventually changing him every 45 minutes. And who has the time for that??? After trying different options for her inserts, different brands, and even triple stuffing her pocket diapers…. she was almost ready to just throw in the towel on cloth diapers. After talking to other cloth diapering moms, she found out that bamboo and hemp were a good combination, but the dry time just wasn’t ideal. The other obstacle was just his size- he was slim with skinny little legs. There needed to be a diaper that offered the natural materials but that fit around his little legs and fit with little to no bulk. Andrea decided that she needed to create the perfect cloth diaper system for her child. Thus, Lanibaby cloth diapers were born! 🙂

15145168_10154715701299282_1014716492_o 15127415_10154715701284282_953019581_o

Today. Hello Lanibaby, Heavenly Cloth Diapers! These cloth diapers are pockets with an opening in both the front and back. This makes life SO much easier when it comes to laundry. Because of the two openings, I don’t have to unstuff the pocket- my washing machine does it automatically when it’s agitating.

 15134203_10154715701269282_2029423085_o 15102118_10154715701279282_2104197037_o

Now… let’s talk about these inserts. You can see me freak out about them a little bit here. It was a live Facebook video and there’s a reason why I don’t do them often. #HotMessMom all the way!

The inserts are both bamboo and hemp, but they’re constructed in a way that the ends are sewn together, but the middle is open. This allows the smaller inserts to be tucked into the bigger inserts as an AWESOME overnight option but so that they also have a lesser dry time. No more two or three cycles for the dryer! 😉 The top layer is 70% rayon from bamboo, 30% cotton. And the bottoms layer is 55% hemp and 45% organic cotton. Talk about absorbency! Jackson can use the smaller insert through a nap guys- that’s amazing!

15134088_10154716008964282_1838093350_o

Lanibaby diapers are manufactured in China, in a warehouse that does not employ children, workers get vacation time and sick leave, and have normal work day hours. They do high-quality work and it really stands out with these diapers. These diapers are CPSIA compliant so they meet all USA standards for being used on children.

15145155_10154715700924282_557682986_o

Now for my experience. Oh. My. Goodness. I could really relate to Andrea’s struggle with a tiny baby. Jackson is a peanut so having a diaper specifically made for slender babies has been life changing. With the smaller insert, I’m confident that he won’t have any leaks during nap time. And it passed my overnight test when using the smaller insert tucked inside the medium insert! Lanibaby just came out with a larger insert as well, but it was a little too big for me to use with Jackson right now. I do believe that it will come in handy as he grows; it’s a great option for bigger babies! Now… for the cute pictures! You can really tell that the diaper fits him well and that it’s not too bulky on his tiny body. This diaper really felt like it was made for MY baby!

MommyCon Review, Promo Code, and GIVEAWAY

*Edit- Looking for the 2017 coupon code? Use the code FLUFFBUM17 for $5 off!*
For the third year in a row- I have the pleasure of being in MommyCon’s media team as a blogger. And last year, I experienced MommyCon in real life- instead of just thru the windows of the Internet! 😉 I was 34 weeks pregnant so I was hormonal but I loved having a da away from my kids and husband! I had a day for me, doing what I love! Here’s what I think about the MommyCon events…

MommyCon is freaking awesome! Where else are you going to find a bunch of parents with a mindset like you?! Cloth diapering, baby wearing, breastfeeding, co-sleeping, essential oils… The list could go on and on. Everybody is accepted. There’s no shaming or words being thrown around the mother openly breastfeeding her child. It’s like everyone is on the same team. MommyCon brings that community together and it’s literally one of the coolest things I’ve experienced.

So other than meeting people- what else is MommyCon about? Well… There are some really neat speakers. I had the pleasure of listening to Jessica from the Leaky Boob last year. And maybe it was the pregnancy hormones- but she seriously made me cry. Her words were so powerful that I just couldn’t hold them back.

Another person I got to see speak was Jennifer Labit, the founder and CEO of Cotton Babies. She spoke about cloth diapering- mostly how and why to start. She was a very good speaker and I was excited to meet her!

I had a total “fan-girl” moment when I met Jamie, the BabyGearGuy. I love following his posts on Facebook and Instagram. He’s just a really down to earth, funny guy. And he knows his stuff! He spoke on car seat safety and answered questions. My sister in law convinced me to go up to him for a picture, which I would have anyways… But I was nervous. 😂 Again, probably my pregnancy hormones.

Along with bloggers and speakers, you also get to shop. And I like shopping! There were many venders there and they were all right up my alley. Smart bottoms, Pink Lemonade Shop, Applecheeks, Tekhni- and that’s just the beginning! I was really excited to meet Sue, the owner of Pink Lemonade Shop. She also is in Ohio but is still about two hours away from me. I’m happy MommyCon allowed us to actually meet!

Now, the swag bag. I wouldn’t recommend going to MommyCon if you’re only going for the goodie bag. There’s so much information and other amazingness to get from this experience than just the goodie bag. But, it is an awesome perk. MommyCon has some awesome sponsors! Because I’m in the media team, some of my items are a little different  than the general admission bags, but here’s what I received:

And then here is what I purchased. I could have (and wanted) to purchase some additional things, but I was overwhelmed and couldn’t make a decision on what I wanted. So although I didn’t get everything I had my eye on, I’m still really happy with what I did purchase! And I LOVE my MommyCon shirt! As a matter of fact, I’ve gotten some awesome compliments on it! 😉

MommyCon 2015 was really neat and I’m happy that I got to experience it! But now, they’re gearing up for MommyCon 2016! Here is the schedule for this year:

  • MommyCon Atlanta- February 6th
  • MommyCon Chicago- March 5th

Evolution of a Cloth Diapering Mama

Most cloth diapering mamas go through phases. Some mamas don’t get it while others know this way too well! I call this the “Evolution” of a Cloth Diapering Mama.

Congratulations! Either someone introduced you to the love of cloth or you found it while researching how to save money with a new baby. Either way, welcome to the Fluff side!

When a mom finds cloth, she usually goes into a researching stage. How to wash, the different types, different brands, etc. There’s SO much to learn. It’s usually recommended that you get a few different diapers to try- different styles, different brands, just a nice little variety. You may even have Dream Diapers pick out your beginning stash with a Dream Stash. Then you’re hooked. Getting fluff in the mail is like no other package you can receive. It’s something totally unexplainable and only cloth diapering mamas understand. Fluff Mail is the best mail day ever. Then you prep your new diapers and get those babies on the bum. Oh my goodness. The cuteness. The fluffiness. It’s love. Now it’s time to buy, buy, and buy some more!

Now, you’re going to find out what you like and what you don’t like. You may see that you love your Lalabye Baby diapers for daytime, your wool for night, and your Bumgenius for out and about. Here comes the ever revolving stash. You’ll become a buy/sell/trade pro. Out goes this brand, in comes another. You’ll be stalking social media sites hoping, praying, and fingers crossed that you’ll get that new print! You’ll have your husband or friend on the computer while you’re on your phone and when you get word its up, it’ll be a race to the finish line. But man, the server is going to crash. There will be curse words. And then your husband or partner will look at you like you are a crazy person. All over cloth diapers. Ehhh it’s for the baby, right? At least that’s what you’re going to tell yourself, your husband, and anyone else who questions you. Just remember, you didn’t understand all the hype either until you became a cloth diapering mama. It just happens! 😉

You’ll be taking stash shots and ooooh-ing and ahhhh-ing at your beautiful rainbows. You’ll have a unicorn diaper that you’ll always be searching for. And then maybe one day…. dare I say it? You’ll be “stashified!” But don’t worry! That day will not happen anytime soon! It could be 3 kids later and you won’t be stashified. Let’s just hope that when you become stashified for yourself, you introduce cloth diapers to a family member or friend and keep this cycle going. And then, you can buy cloth for someone else! It’s the perfect plan! 😉

So tell me, what stage of the cloth diapering mama life cycle are you in? I’m still in the “Buy, Sell, Love” stage and I don’t see myself being stashified anytime soon!

Getting Ready for MommyCon & Using Their New App!

Less than a week away until I’ll be at MommyCon Chicago and I’m so excited! I’m officially in “getting ready” mode and have started thinking about what I’m packing for the trip…. And what I want to buy at the event! 😉
I can’t tell you how often I find myself on the MommyCon app, scrolling through the schedule and looking at the vender list. I’m trying to get a good “game plan” together for the big day so I don’t miss the things I really want to miss! Wait- you didn’t know there was an app?! Yes! It’s new to the MommyCon scene this year! Here are some screenshots so you can see it for yourself:

The front page shows you the list of cities they’re attending in 2016. Pick which city you’ll be visiting- in my case, Chicago.

Here are all the things app has to offer- see the schedule, the exhibitor list, the speakers, etc.

Take a look at the speakers!

Catch a peak at the vendors and exhibitors to plan your day.

Take a look at the schedule for the day. You can click on the topic and read about it to decide if that is a session you would like to attend.

You can even share your experience on the app! Take a picture and share it on Facebook, Instagram, or text a friend!

Take note that the app will not be up to date for all cities right now. Each city will have complete information the week of the event! 🙂 I’m so excited to continue using the app this week in preparation for the Chicago event and I’m sure it will be an invaluable tool come Saturday! You can find the app easily by searching “MommyCon” in your App Store. It’s made for both android and iOS.

My Cloth Diaper Stash

I have NEVER met a cloth diapering mama that didn’t want to show off her stash. In a lot of cloth diapering Facebook groups- there’s this thing called “Stash Shot Sunday” and some do “Stash Shot Saturday.” Literally all you’ll find is pictures of moms showing of their cloth diaper stash. And why not?! You worked hard to make that stash what it is! So, without further adieu…. here’s my cloth diaper stash.

I currently store Jackson’s diapers in his nursery, on his changing table. They’re organized by type/brand and in 5 of these 6 cubes. The top two have covers and prefolds. The third top one has extra breastfeeding supplies- at least for now. I’m working on finding another space for those so I can fit more diapers in there…. 😉

The bottom row contains:

  • All-in-Ones: SmartBottoms 3.1 and Blueberry Simplex
  • Lalabye Baby Diapers
  • Bumgenius Diapers: 4.0 Pockets and Freetimes

Here’s some pictures.

Currently, I have:

  • 7 Best Bottoms, 4 Flips, 2 Thirsties Duos, 2 SmartBottoms Covers
  • 3 Sloomb Fitteds: 1 HLC, 2 OBF size small
  • 4 Blueberry Simplex, 7 Smartbottoms AIO (one missing in picture)
  • 8 Lalabye Baby
  • 9 Bumgenius 4.0 Pockets, 3 Bumgenius Freetimes

I really love the size of my stash. I have more than enough to get me through a few days of diapers. I go maybe 2 or 3 days between washing and still have a good amount of clean diapers left. I feel that having a decent stash helps prevent a lot of wear and tear on the diapers. I know they’re items to be pooped in… But I don’t have the craftiness or abilities to fix elastics, replace snaps, etc. So I want my diapers to stay in the best shape as possible so I can have my favorites for the next 2 years- at least! But I constantly am changing my stash. Almost every week I sell a couple diapers and buy a couple more. Maybe one day I’ll be “stashified.” But for now- that’s a myth that I’ll never know! 😉

Fluff Advice Wednesday: Find Your Local Group

IMG_4997-0.JPG

Finding a group on Facebook is super easy, unless there hasn’t been one started in your area yet. Or maybe there has, but it’s mainly used as a buy/sell/trade page.

About a year ago, I started my own local group and invited some of the mamas I knew that cloth diapered in my area. We started having meetings in my home or my sister in laws once a month. This was awesome because we got to not only interact with each other in person, but we could ask questions, show each other new diapers, and just enjoy each other’s company. It’s amazing having friends that parent in similar ways that I do. We have each other’s backs!

Now, why is this good advice? I strongly believe that each family has their own wash routine and there is no “one size fits all.” However, if there are water issues in your area, then chances are…. Another mom is dealing with some of the same laundry issues that you are. Heck, you might get lucky and they may have already figured out the tricks to getting pretty, clean diapers.

Just like babywearing has a sense of community with their meetings, cloth diapering has brought in an even bigger community to my life. I’ve seen more cloth diapers up close to know what I may want to purchase and try and what I may want to avoid. I’ve learned about more than cloth diapers since starting our local group and met so many awesome women!

My advice for today is: find some people. Heck, you may already know them. But join a LOCAL group, be a part of your local cloth diapering community, and support any local cloth diapering shops you may have. The internet is great at bringing people together and for online shopping. But we’re starting to lose the sense of community by joining large Facebook groups and never meeting these people in person. (And of course… It is the internet so always remain cautious in every scenario!)

Hey, you may even meet a mama that brings you a bottle of wine on a really bad day. (True story, it’s happened to me!) We all need support. So why not get it from people that are minutes or miles away? <3
